Amazon offers ‘full support’ to employee injured in New Orleans terror attack
Amazon says it has offered its “full support” to the employee who was injured in New Orleans terrorist attackafter the victim told reporters she was denied time off to recover and feared having to find a new job.
The company and founder Jeff Bezos were hit with harsh criticism on social media Friday morning over reports from the NOLA.com about Amazon worker Alexis Scott-Windham, who survived being hit by a truck driving through a crowd on Bourbon Street and was also shot in the early morning attack on New Year’s Day.
The outlet reported that Scott-Windham, a mom of Mobile, Alabamahe still has a bullet in his foot.

“She will have to go back to the orthopedist in two weeks to check on her foot,” reports NOLA.com. “But the Amazon warehouse where she works has refused her request for leave and she is worried that she will have to find a new job after she recovers.”

When FOX Business reached out for comment, Amazon said company just learned Friday morning that Scott-Windham mistakenly requested the wrong type of leave, and the company is correcting it.
“We have reached out to Ms. Scott-Windham to offer her full support, including wages, as she recovers from this senseless act of violence,” Amazon spokeswoman Kelly Nantel said in a statement. “We wish her a full recovery and look forward to welcoming her back to work when she is fit.”

Scott-Windham was one of dozens of people injured in the attack that killed 15 people, including the suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar.
