A ship loaded with 20,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate – the same chemical that left large parts of Beirut in ruins in an explosion in 2020 – is approaching the port of Abidjan. Activists have expressed concern about allowing the ship to unload its allegedly damaged cargo, but authorities say they have taken measures to ensure the safety of the public.
