Legendary South African cricketer AB de Villiers has created excitement among cricket fans by giving a big hint about his return to the cricket field. However, the former Proteas captain is not considering a return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) or Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
AB de Villiers, who was known for his innovative stroke play and ability to dominate bowlers in all conditions, last graced the international stage in 2018 and retired from all forms of the game in 2021.

He recently opened up about his comeback plans with an honest reason behind his decision. Mr. 360 revealed that his children were forcing him to pick up the bat again.

AB de Villiers also revealed that his left eye is not as sharp as it used to be, but his dominant right eye is sharp enough to give him a try. The South African batting legend expressed his excitement at first playing the game casually with his children and rediscovering the joy of cricket, which will help him make further decisions about his journey.

Speaking in an interview with Running Between The Wickets, AB de Villiers said, “One day I might still play cricket. No confirmation, but I’m starting to feel it. My kids put me under a bit of pressure and I feel like I could network with them. If I enjoy it, maybe I’ll go out and go somewhere and play some casual cricket again, not the professional IPL stuff or the SA tours.”
The legendary cricketer added: “Who knows? But we’ll see. I will try again and see if this eye still works. It’s a bit blurry, but this one (the right one) is dominant and works well. So I’m doing it for my kids and seeing if I can go there and enjoy cricket again.”

Speaking about the remarkable career of 45-year-old Imran Tahir, de Villiers expressed his admiration for the evergreen spin legend and even revealed his playful thoughts on teaming up with his former Proteas teammate. Unfortunately, de Villiers has ruled out a return to the IPL or Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

The legendary cricketer emphasized that he does not want to face the intense pressure of the big leagues, but simply wants to play for fun and rediscover the joy of the game without the burden of expectations. Notably, he represented South Africa in 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 T20Is.
De Villiers signed off by saying, “I might ask him to be in my team wherever I go. Just remember this: he’s one of my favorite players. Nothing serious though. We’re not talking about RCB and big things. Yeah, no I want to feel that pressure again. That’s the thing. So wherever I go, I’m going to have some fun.”
