75 more Guatemalan soldiers arrive in Haiti to fight gangs Reuters


PORT-AU-PRINCE (Reuters) – A second group of 75 Guatemalan soldiers arrived in Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince on Saturday to reinforce a United Nations-backed mission tasked with restoring order amid the chaos caused by gangs, it said. is a mission.

Another 75 soldiers arrived a day earlier, bringing the total number of Guatemalan troops to 150. All reinforcements come from a unit of the Guatemalan military police, the Guatemalan government said in a statement.

An additional eight soldiers from El Salvador also arrived on Friday.
