2025 NFL Pro Bowl: Patrick Mahomes misses first time as Baltimore Ravens lead picks | NFL news
Patrick Mahomes was left out of the Pro Bowl for the first time since becoming the NFL’s starting quarterback, while Lamar Jackson is one of the Baltimore Ravens’ top nine players in the league.
The Kansas City Chiefs star, a three-time Super Bowl MVP, missed out on an AFC roster spot as he has been included every year since becoming the starter at Arrowhead in his sophomore season.
Tight end Travis Kelce, however, earned his 10th Pro Bowl selection as one of five Chiefs players to join defensive end Chris Jones and offensive linemen Joe Thuney, Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey.
Mahomes, statistically speaking, had one of the worst campaigns of his glittering career as he threw for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Nonetheless, the Chiefs continue their quest for a historic third straight Super Bowl crown after clinching the No. 1 seed in the AFC as they enter the final weekend of the regular season at 15-1.
Two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson leads the polls in Baltimore as one of the favorites to win his third MVP after throwing for 3,955 yards and 39 touchdowns to just four interceptions along with 852 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.
He was joined by Ravens teammate Derrick Henry thanks to his 1,783 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns in his first season with the team.
Jackson appears alongside MVP rival Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals as the AFC’s starting quarterbacks.
Washington Commanders’ Jayden Daniels, meanwhile, is the fourth rookie quarterback since 1970 to be named to the Pro Bowl’s starting roster, joining Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff and Minnesota Vikings running back Sam Darnold as NFC starting quarterbacks.
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, who just broke the rookie receiving record, and Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Jared Verse are the other two first-year players inducted.
Detroit boasts seven selections ahead of six each for the Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles, including 2,000-yard rusher Saquon Barkley. The Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans and New Orleans Saints are the only teams without a single player awarded a Pro Bowl berth.
Peyton Manning and Eli Manning will be the head coaches for the Feb. 2 interconference seven-on-seven all-star football game in Florida.
