Zinedine Zidane has turned down four clubs as he waits for his ‘dream’ coaching job
Zinedine Zidane has rejected approaches from at least four European giants as he continues to wait for his dream return to management, a report claims.
After a spell as manager of Real Madrid’s Castilla, Zidane took charge of the senior team in early 2016 and won three consecutive Champions Leagues before leaving in 2018, only to return to Madrid in 2019.
Zidane added another La Liga title to his trophy cabinet before leaving again in 2021 and has been out of work ever since, although MARCH insist that it is not for lack of offers.
Indeed, Zidane reportedly turned down the chance to join Manchester UnitedJuventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the last three years, and it is believed that the Frenchman has also been approached by some big national teams.
Zidane, however, is only interested in returning to management with one of two parties: Real Madrid or France.
Due to loyalty, Zidane does not see himself managing any club other than Madrid, and the French national team is the only other team that has a significant emotional attachment to Zidane.
It is stressed that Zidane may reconsider his stance on an “exceptional” offer, but is in no rush to return to management and will not take another job unless he is fully satisfied with the proposal.
As it stands, neither Madrid nor France are looking for new managers. Carlo Ancelotti is signed at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2026, and Deschamps’ contract with Les Bleus expires in the same summer.
