US stocks fall at the close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.77% Investing.com
Investing.com – U.S. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close, the NYSE was down 0.77%, while the index lost 1.11% and the index fell 1.48%.
The best performers of the session were Boeing Co (NYSE: ), which was up 0.19% or 0.34 points to 180.72 at the close. Meanwhile, Chevron Corp (NYSE: ) added 0.01% or 0.02 points to end at 144.00 and Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE: ) traded down 0.10% or 0.04 points to 39.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: ), which fell 2.04% or 2.86 points to 137.07 at the close. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: ) declined 1.73% or 7.58 points to end at 430.53 and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: ) declined 1.40% or 3.19 points to 223.86.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Lamb Weston Holdings Inc (NYSE: ) which rose 2.63% to 67.00, APA Corporation (NASDAQ: ) which rose 1.14% to 22.09 and Hershey Co (NYSE: ) which gained 0.97% to close at 171.83.
The worst performers were Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ: ) which fell 5.22% to 31.98 in late trade, Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: ) which lost 4.95% to 431.66 and Palantir Technologies Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 which fell 3.69% to 79.11 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Intrusion Inc (NASDAQ: ) which rose 381.56% to 2.17, iLearningEngines Inc (NASDAQ: ) which rose 266.05% to 0.59 and Graphjet Technology (NASDAQ: ) which gained 198.38% to close to 1.01.
The worst performers were Viracta Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: ), which fell 32.49% to 0.16 at the close, reAlpha Tech Corp (NASDAQ: ) which lost 29.05% to settle at 2.54 and Painreform Ltd (NASDAQ: ) which fell 28.57% to 3.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered rising stocks on the New York Stock Exchange by 2,262 to 547, with 65 ending unchanged; on the Nasdaq stock exchange, 2383 fell, 915 rose, while 109 ended unchanged.
The index , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, rose 8.28% to 15.95.
Gold futures for February delivery fell 0.80%, or 21.36, to $2,632.54 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.95% or 0.66 to $70.28 a barrel, while the March Brent crude contract rose 0.85% or 0.62 to 73 .47 dollars per barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.02% at 1.04, while USD/JPY fell 0.06% to 157.91.
US dollar index futures fell 0.07% to 107.82.
