Man Utd are looking for a new goalkeeper amid Andre Onana’s concerns
Manchester United have begun their search for new goalkeepers, a report has revealed, with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir fighting for their futures.
Onana has been a starter for United since his £47.2m move from Ajax in the summer of 2023. His tenure was marked by several outstanding performances, but also a large number of individual mistakes, especially since the new head coach Ruben Amorim arrived.
The Cameroon representative’s deputy, Bayindir, failed to impress in his place. Opportunities were limited but an error-ridden performance in the Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur did not help his case.
The Telegraph state United officials have begun to assess their options in goal, with 22-year-old Royal Antwerp stopper Senne Lammens breaking onto the radar.
Lammens is highly regarded in Europe and Borussia Dortmund are also said to be interested in signing him.
United are not believed to be desperate to sign a new goalkeeper immediately – left-back remains a top priority, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes on target – but things could change if Bayindir decides to leave for Premier League football.
Even if Bayindir leaves, United may be in no rush to sign a new goalkeeper, with 38-year-old Tom Heaton also on the books at Old Trafford.
