La Liga chief excludes a major penalty for Barcelona via a scandal with non -fire
La Liga President Javier Tebas gave Barcelona fans the opportunity to sigh with relief because of the liquid “cases of disagreement”, explaining potential sanctions that could be applied.
Barcelona was charged with sports corruption in 2023 After finding out that the payments were reportedly routinely enforced for many years by a company associated with former Vice -President of the Spanish Committee, Jose Maria Enriquez disbursed.
In exchange for these payments in the total amount of around 7 million euros, Barcelona allegedly received reports and videos on judges.
The investigation to collect evidence is ongoing and did not achieve a resolution, although La Liga He wants the case to be heard in the courtroom.
But while Tebas seeks legal retaliation, he explained that it would come in the form of financial sentences, not sports. This means that even if it is found guilty of injustice, Barcelona could not be forcibly expelled from La Liga as a punishment.
“I do not bring sports laws; I have to comply with what was determined,” Tebas explained in an interview Goal. “In this case, the statute of limitations for crimes is three years and we cannot invent a different statute of limitations. So no, for that reason, there would be no administrative outburst.
“There are many shades for the crime of sports corruption crime, and I will not go into too many details, because we would do a criminal law course here. But, abstract, sanctions can be ranging from the breakdown of entities or commercial companies to financial fines.”
Tebas also wanted to mention that there was no evidence that Barcelona was “buying” individual judges, and sports corruption has applied for alleged jobs from the out of it.
“What needs to be clarified is that the purchase of judges has not been proven in this investigation,” he said. “All the parties have requested information and evidence, but there is no evidence that the judge has been purchased. What is clear is the payment of non -fire, which is already a sports corruption. But when you read or hear certain things, they seem to be exaggerated.”
