Colts’ Shane Steichen gives poignant answers to questions about the team’s culture issues
Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen got a chance Monday to respond to criticism from former player Pat McAfee after the loss to the New York Giants.
McAfee he objected his former team, and the point of contention was the culture in the building. He mentioned that players are late for meetings and that the overall product on the field is poor because of this.

“I think with any team, right, not everybody’s going to be on time every time, but there’s accountability and guys are held to a standard and that’s the talk around the house,” Steichen said, via The Athletic. “And I don’t think so. And I mean, you know, with anything … I think Pat, you know, he’s an alumnus who wants to see the Colts do well, just like all of our fans want us to do well, and when the standard doesn’t make the playoffs, it’s frustrating.
“So it’s frustrating for a lot of people, myself included. And that’s where we talked about raising the bar so we’re not in these kinds of situations.”
Steichen was brought into the organization to take the Colts to the next level after finding success with Philadelphia Eagles as their offensive coordinator.

In his first season, Indianapolis went 9-8 with rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson playing in only a handful of games due to injuries. The offense was 10th in points scored and 15th in yards.
This season, the Colts had to bench Richardson at one point. He was then returned to his starting role. However, the offense hasn’t changed much. Indianapolis, 7-9 overall, is 16th in points and 15th in yards through 17 weeks of the NFL season.
