Former Pakistan versatile Mohammad Hafeez faced strong criticism after saying that past generations of Krtiquette Pakistan did not leave a permanent legacy. However, Hafeez explained that the media had mistakenly presented his remarks, stating that his words of former crisletages were never personal criticism.
Previously, Hafeez criticized Pakistan’s crisletters from the 1990s for not providing the ICC trophies. Pakistan had to wait 17 years before winning another ICC trophy when they won the T20 2009 World Cup in England. Men in Green had to wait eight years before they secured the title of Trophy champion in 2017.
They couldn’t inspire us with a victory in the ICC event – Mohammad Hafeez
Mohammad Hafeez’s remarks followed Pakistan’s catastrophic campaign at the ICC Trophy 2025 ICC champion. While the tournament hosts and defending the champions, Pakistan endured victory, losing India of New Zealand and Arhy-Rivals before a corrected match against Bangladesh.
The team led by Mohammad Rizwan ended up at the bottom of his group. They failed to reach the semi -finals at their first ICC event at home from the 1996 World Cup. The bad performance launched a broad criticism, and Hafeez’s comment “No Legacy” further promoted the controversy.
“I am a big fan of those who played in the 1990s, but when it came to heritage, they left nothing for Pakistan. They didn’t win the ICC event. As stars, as players, they were a mega superstar. But then they couldn’t inspire us with a victory in the ICC event,” Hafeez said.

“Therefore, I explained that the greats of the Pakistan games with all the talent for crickets who could not win the ICC events (post 92 toilet) in 1996.1999 and 2003. It was never a personal criticism on any of the appropriate players on my part,” he added.

Pakistan fights through formats with disappointing performances
After they ended up as the T20 2022 World Cup runners, Pakistan’s performances at ICC events are disappointed. They failed to reach half -time in the ODA 2023 World Cup. Their struggles continued at the T20 2024 World Cup, where the defeat of the US -Ai India ended the campaign early in the group stage.
Pakistan at home against Bangladesh suffered a degrading test series. The renovated Pakistani team competes in the T20I series with five games against New Zealand. However, their struggles persisted in the introductory game, where they only pulled out 91 and suffered a defeat of nine screws.
