March Madness: The Government of Western Virginia threatens legal proceedings against NCAA
One state representative is not satisfied with NCAA Tournament The selection committee leaves its team.
Western Virginia Government Patrick Morrisey stood on a proofreader during a press conference on Monday, with a sign that read “National Corrupted Athletic Association” After Western Virginia mountaineers did not enter the March Lodge carrier.
The mountaineers were one of the teams on the bubble, and while some believed they had a strong case to be among the 68 selected teams, the committee eventually thought it was different.

“Western Virginia deserved to be in the NCAA tournament,” Morrisey said. “This is a miscarriage of justice and a robbery at the highest level.”
Morrisey also announced that he had asked the State Attorney from West Virginia John McCuskey to open an investigation into the NCAA selection board to see if they were concluded “Backdoor contracts”.
The mountaineers were a team of tournaments with the edges after they rejected a total of 19-13, while they ended 10-10 in a Big 12 conference game.
Many believed that Western Virginia would enter the tournament when the Big 12 tournament began because they had a team so they could pay the title. However, Surprising loss of Coloradawho, during the regular season, owned the last place at the conference, changed all that.
Whether it was a decisive factor in the mountaineers left in the carrier, the choice committee did not reveal, but the word “snub” quickly threw herself when it happened.
The results of the brackets cited Chief Coach Darijan Devries, as well as athletic director Wren Baker to publish statements about the matter. Devries said he was “shocked” that his team did not have the opportunity to compete for the state title.
“Obviously we are extremely shocked, sad and disappointed that we are not selected for the NCAA tournament,” the statement said. “We very much believe that we have a resume worthy of the NCAA tournament team. I am incredibly proud of this team and what they have achieved. They poured their hearts into this season and put all their collective efforts in making the NCAA tournament, and I believe they did it.”

Baker added, “I can’t understand that this team was left out. Our resume was better than several teams on the field and this is a terrible travesty that we were not involved.”
One of the main statistics for the team is Quadrant 1’s victory, which the selection committee determines as a match against the team ranked in the first 30 nets (NCAA-Ina assessment tool) at home, against a team that is 1-50 ranked on a neutral court and 1-75 in Away.
Western Virginia had six victories in Quad 1 games, while North Carolina, a team that many had problems with making the tournament, went 1-12 in these games. Mountaineers also had victories over four ranked teams this season, including Iowa State, No. 3, no. 3 Gonzaga (in a neutral court) and no. 7 Kansas.
Their three wins over the AP Top 10 teams are most in Big 12 this season.
So, Morrisey called the release of a hikers “funny” and “outraged” during the interview with Newsmax.

He also suggested that while he was a state prosecutor, a successful lawsuit against NCAA could lead to a snub.
“Is that retaliation?” He said, referring to a lawsuit he had with the control body, where he successfully challenged the transmission rules in 2024. “We’ll have to get to the bottom of that.”

“The vote of unforeseen situations, it was the last team on the field. And it was based on Memphis-Uaba. If Memphis won that game, it will be released in the tournament and it will be North Carolina.”
