‘India won without Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli’
The Indian National Cricket team, Sunil Gavascar legend, recently shared her views on the 2025 ICC champion triumph on the Rohit Sharma side in Dubai.
Sunil Gavaskar marked the ICC champion trophy win as a ‘sweet victory’ because of the way Team India bounced after a catastrophic performance in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
India beat New Zealand to raise CT 2025 Trophy
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India had a terrible running in the test during the last half of 2024, as well as the first half of 2025. India was stored by New Zealand in a three -match test series, and that was the first time something like that happened.
Then India headed to Australia for Border-Gavascar Trophy 2024-25. Under Captain Jasprit Bumrah, India won the first game, but with the return of Rohit Sharma, the team faced losses, and the Indian skipper had to be excluded from the final test, which the visitors lost.
After a disappointment in the test crice, the Indian team gave something to fans to cheer up with her performance with a white ball.
First they demolished England in the T20I and ODA house, and then continued to win the ICC champions of Trophy 2025, remaining undefeated. In the finals, they faced a strong New Zealand unit, but managed to register a comprehensive victory.
Very rarely has a team dependent on an individual like an Indian who depended on Jasprit Bumrah – Sunil Gavaskar
In the meantime, Sunil Gavascar considered the Indian team too depends on the Jasprit Bumrah in the BGT 2024-25, and its absence cost the team’s final test.
“The victory of India in the champion trophy was a sweet victory, especially after a disappointing loss of a test series in Australia a month or earlier. For a team that won the first test of the series in such a style to insert and lose three of the next four test matches, it was not really a true team of team,” Sunil Gavascar wrote in her column.
“Very rarely has a team that depended on an individual like the Indians who depended on Jasprit Bumrah in Australia and his absence from a bowling attack to defend the small target that India set up in Australia and won the final test of her series.”
And in the past, India won without Rohita Sharma and Virat Kohli – Sunil Gavascar
Sunil Gavascar further acknowledged the importance of Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, but said they were not necessary, and without them, India won many games and continued to do it.
“For the Indian team to bounce the way they succeeded with the comprehensive victories in the ODO and the T20 series against England, which were played on the return of the team to India, attributes volumes of talents to the Indian cricket. These victories, as well as triumph in the champion trophy without Bumrah, is also not added to this game.”
“In the past, India won without Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, but there is no doubt that their presence in the team gives the team an even more invincible look. It was to see so many foreign crisks and saying that India would play anyway, not just because they were stationed in Dubai.
