Chelsea’s midfielder Cole Palmer is the main suspicion of the first England’s first matches under Thomas Tuchel next week after suffered an injury in training.
Palmer was not appointed in the Chelsea team for a day in London derby to Arsenal on Super Sunday, days after he was appointed in the first team in England Tuchel for qualifying for the World Cup against Albania and Latvia.
Palmer also missed the English International in November and joins a similar Trent Alexander-Arnold, Lewis Hall, Kobbie Mainoo, John Stones and Bukayo Saka as three lions are absent this month.
Speaking after the loss of Chelsea from 1-0 of Arsenal, Chelsea chief Enzo Maresca asked if he would play for England next week: “I don’t think she’s honest. The injury is from yesterday’s session, this is a muscular problem.
“We don’t want the players to be injured, but in Cole’s case it can give him a vacation physically and mentally, that could be good. He needs scanning, scanning is planned for tomorrow or on Monday.”
Chelsea hopes Palmer will return after an international break.
