Early on Sunday, Sunday in the northern Macedonian town of Kocani, killing 59 people and injuring more than 100 after Sparks lit a roof over the band live.
The arrest warrants have been issued for four people in connection with the fire, said Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski. Mia State News Agency said police have detained the club owner for an incident.
One video from the event, confirmed by Reuters, showed a band playing on stage painted with two flas that fired white sparks in the air, some of which set the ceiling.
The fire caused immediate panic, and friends and loved ones were separated as people fled to the exit.
“Everyone was trying to save themselves,” said the survivor of Mario Taseva (22) for the local TV 5.
As she tried to escape, Taseva fell to the ground, and the people overrun her, leaving her with her injury to the cheek. She lost contact with her sister who is still missing.
“We can’t find her at any hospital,” she said.
Minors among the injured
Health Minister Arben Taravari said that 148 people were hospitalized in Skopje, Kocani and surrounding cities. Eighteen people have been critically injured, Taravari said.
The public emiter of the North Macedonia reported that 27 people were hospitalized at the Skopje City Hospital with heavy burns, and 23 were treated at the Clinical Center. There were minors among the injured.
The fire, which began around 3am, caused “pyrotechnic devices” whose sparks launched the flames, Toshkovski said.
Ljupco Kocevski, a public prosecutor of northern Macedonia, said five prosecutors would investigate the incident.
“At the moment, commands for gathering evidence have been issued,” and some people were interviewed, Kocevski said without detail.
Firefighters flew into the carbon and a smoking entrance to the Pulse Night Club, while ambulances flew from the scene, TV shots of the local Emiter showed. Reuters’ paintings showed that the club wavy iron roof burned down and collapsed in places, exposed to his inner wooden beams and blushed.
Prime Minister Christian Mickoski said on Facebook: “This is a difficult and very sad day for Macedonia! The loss of so many young lives is irreparable, the pain of family, loved ones and friends is immeasurable.”
After visiting the injured at a hospital in Skopje, northern Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkov, dressed in black and combat tears, he said that the authorities were ready to do their best to help everyone who was affected.
“I just can’t figure it out … What a disaster, what a tragedy.”
