“Little House” star Michael Landon was “protective” on set: former children’s actress

Before Melora Hardin starred in “Office”, she headed for the prairie.
The actress, who as a child started in Hollywood, auditioned for an audition for a “little house on the prairie” when she was 9 years old. She later starred in an episode to play Belinda, one of the classmates Albert Ingall (Matthew Labiorteaux).

“Michael Landon made everyone feel safe,” she recalled. “He believed in us, and we believed in him. He protected us. And I think it was one of the most important lessons that I learned early [in Hollywood] – Surround yourself with the people you feel safe. “
“I always said that acting and making movies and TVs are one of the biggest teams around,” she shared. “And I believe that Michael Landon was my first example. I learned from him immediately. And it just felt amazing to be around people that made you feel sure you were a fool in front of you, not as a performer, especially this young, felt good that I didn’t feel constantly judged or challenged.”

“It’s about working with great associates, not tolerating A-Rupe,” she said. “He didn’t have any A-Rupe on the set. And I think it’s great important. If you feel safe, then you can work great.”

Hardin has been doing “for a long time” When “a small house” joined. But Landon was different, she shared.
“I worked with people who weren’t as beautiful as he was,” Hardin said. “We had a school on set, and it was fun to have other children at school with you, working with you.”

“Many times I would make a movie or something, and I would be the only one [kid] In the room, “Hardin continued.” I would be the only one in the classroom with a teacher set. And it was such a joy to have other children when you have to be in class with them and then work with them. That was joyful. We would also play games. It was a really fun way to be a child, being a children’s actor. That must have been the highlight. “

Hardin found that from the moment she walked the set Landon was “so warm”.
“He worked well with the children,” she pushed. “He really knew how to feel comfortable. He would let us do our own. He was not a director for mixing. He was very joyful.

“He had a long -standing relationship with his crew and surrounded the people he really believed. So it was unnoticed. He was just joyful. I never felt he was stressed. Maybe he was [working behind the scenes]but I never felt it as a child. He seemed to be great … It seemed that everyone laughed in my world as a little child. “
Hardin also immediately merged with Labyorteaux, 58.

“I remember during our first audition we had to make this flashback sequence together,” she recalled. “I was a dancer. I started dancing at 5. [Ingalls]. We danced together, and he later told me that he really wanted me to get a part because I didn’t step on his toes like other girls. “
Hardin returned to the 1983 TV movie “Little House: Look back to yesterday.” She played a new character, Michele, who was Albert’s love occupation. They shared their first kiss on the screen.

“We both crushed each other,” she said. “It was an incredibly cute moment. I think we were nervous and we both enjoyed it. It’s forever memory for me. And we became best friends. He is the godfather of the youngest daughter. It was a wonderful, random moment in our lives.”

The “Little House on Prairie” was concluded after nine seasons in 1983. Landon passed away in 1991 at the age of 54 from the pancreatic cancer. It was a gloomy time for an acting role.

“I was still so young when he died, but I remember we were all sad,” she said. “… but I was so happy to have had that time with him, that time we shared on the set and the creative experience we shared. I had to testify to what a beautiful person she is. I’ll always remember him that way.”
Today, Harden was busy with her background line.

“My interest in art started really young,” she explained. “My father is an actor and artist. And I think I learned very young people from him, yes, you can be an actor, but it’s also very important to have other things you are passionate about. And I was passionate about art, and I was always passionate about collage. I think I was ever a great artist. But that didn’t encourage me to be a collage.”
“When I made my first movie, I realized that collage was kind of what you did in the editing room,” she shared. “Everything goes together. I’m a songwriter and it’s like collage, because you make words and melodies in a way that somehow belongs. I think it’s always what I am.”

In January, Netflix confirmed that restart Classic shows got the green light. Streaming Giant described him as a “transformed adaptation.” It will be Rebecca Sonnenshine of “The Boys” and “The Vampire Diaries” as Showrunner and Executive Producer.

Hardin thinks he should give him a chance.
“There is certainly a place for some sweet content,” Hardin said. “I remember the announced new ‘Hawaii Five-0’. I thought, ‘I remember when it was when I was a kid,’ and I loved it. Can I do it justice? ”
