The Australian driver commits his long -term future to McLaren after signing the extension of the multi -year contract after 2026.

Formula 1 champions McLaren secured Oscar Piastra in the long run after announcing a multi-year extension of the contract ahead of the 23-year-old domestic driver’s home.

The news, published on Wednesday, was followed by similar extensions for the Director of Zak Brown, the director of the team of Andrea Stella, teammate Piastra Lando Norris and older staff.

Norris, the entire runner last season, the four-time Red Bull World Champion Max Verstappen, signed an extension in January 2024.

The winner of the race in Hungary and Azerbaijan last season, while McLaren has taken over his first constructor title since 1998, Piastra debuted F1 with the British team 2023 and already had a contract that lasted until the end of 2026. The terms of his new contract after 2026 were not published.

“Not only is he an incredibly talented driver, but his work ethics and cultural apartment on the team made it not wise to extend his time in Papaji (McLaren’s Colors),” Brown said in a statement.

“We have the best driver’s line on the net, and in the last two seasons we have seen how much property for the Oscar team is both on and off the trail.

“It was absolutely fundamental in adding our heritage with the 2024 construction championship last season, so we are all excited to see what we can do in the years to come while we continue to fight for the World Cups together.”

The first exercise for the Sunday season opener at Albert Park is Friday.

Piastra, who is 24 years old next month and hopes to fight for the title this year, said it was great to be a part of the long -term future of McLaren.

“The team had a belief in me when we signed in 2022, and the journey we went to in the last two seasons to help bring McLaren back to the very top of the sport, it was amazing,” he said.

“So many talented and special people working in (factory) who helped me to become the winner of Formula One race very early in my career.

“Therefore, I am very proud to continue to represent this legendary team for many years.”
