Senate Intelligence Panel Criticizes CIA’s Response to Havana Syndrome By Reuters
(Reuters) – A bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report released on Friday criticized the CIA’s response to the so-called Havana health problems among its employees, saying many individuals “faced barriers to timely and adequate care.”
A declassified summary of the panel’s confidential report also said the spy agency’s response “negatively impacted” those who reported symptoms, leading to a “trust deficit” among some staff.
While the CIA provided benefits and compensation to many of those who reported symptoms, the report said, the ease of access to those programs was inconsistent, affecting how the agency was organized to deal with the issue.
