On Thursday, Pope Francis thanked the benefactors ‘from the bottom of his heart’ in his first audio message since he was hospitalized for double pneumonia almost three weeks ago. A short message recorded by Francis from Roman Hospital Gemelli earlier that day was played during the night prayer service for the 88-year-old Pontena in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
