The 18-plow Grand Slam champion published a claim that criticized Trump that he was not mentally qualified for the office. By tweeting the quote – by bringing political candidate Evan McMullin – Novratilova further involved in her usual criticism of controversial figure.
Navrati’s loud political position is nothing unusual. She consistently denied Trump’s rhetoric, politics and alleged ethical transgressions over the years. From accusation of racism and financial transactions to caution against its effect on democracy, she never hesitated to speak her opinion.
Her latest reaction happened when Trump was under new supervision because he allegedly suggested a decrease in veterans’ questions, allegedly made false claims of history and maintained inflammatory speeches that escalated political tension. By publishing a critical quote – “the longer we pretend that he is not mentally ill, which will experience more destruction” – Navratilova publicly declared where she was standing.
Although the quote was most often attached to McMullin, it cannot be determined that he had ever uttered such words. McMullin, however, had previous criticism on Trump’s leadership, temperament and supposedly abuse of power.
