“In the 2022/23 season, no club earned. The smallest loss was Gloucester to £ 550,000, and seven of the 10 clubs have a negative balance, the largest is Bristol Bear with about £ 34 million.

“Sharks are around £ 1.9 million, so there are only three clubs with a positive balance: Northampton, Harlequins and Gloucester. There is a little chance of medium -sized profitability and therefore a significant risk of other clubs going to the wall.

“I think it is [just a matter of time]. Unless the financial model of the game can be radically changed. “

Rumors have been circulating London Irish will seek to join URC, where clubs from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy and South Africa compete, and may even be involved in Ireland.

Such ambition has roots in the fact that Manning says that regulations on RFU is unjust in the prevention of clubs to return to the top layer, or, he says, even another level.

Manning also confirmed that he believes that Jordan is very interested in watching London Irish, who joins the URC, but added that RFU would have a veto on such a move.

“As far as I understand, he intends to see if I can join the URC -Ui I think that could also be the case for Wasps as well, because there is no sustainable path of entry into premiums.
