By Thursday, Roberts provided an answer, FA said, but Millwall intends to fight any extended ban.

The club statement states: “Millwall Football Club acknowledges FA -ai statement will continue to support Liam, who has been undergoing terrible abuse on the net since Saturday’s collision.”

Millwall fans held a minute of applause in solidarity with Roberts during the championship match on Tuesday against Bristol City, at the same point in the match as when they sent him against Palace.

The case will listen to an independent regulatory commission that will decide not to impose a standard prohibition.
