Lauren Price rejected Natasha Jonas’ Jibe in her efforts about the Olympic Medal.
Rival World Champions Jonas and Price Fight for IBF, WBC and WBA WELTERWEIGHT WORLD TALL on Friday at Royal Albert Hall, live on Sky Sports.
Price was an Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo Games in 2021, but Jonas did not intimidate that recognition.
“When all good people left,” Jonas said of Price’s Olympic victory.
“You may have credentials on paper, but when it comes to a professional ring, I don’t think she had it.”
While Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall became professional until the story of Price won a gold medal in the middleweight category, the Welsh star still had to overcome the list of elite opponents to reach the top of the podium in Japan.
At the games in Tokyo, Price had to beat boxers like Atheyn Bylon (World Champion and Olympic Silver Medal), Nouchka Fontijn (Olympic Silver Medal) and Qian Li (Golden Medal in Paris 2024).
Responding to Jonas Barb, Price said Sky Sports: “She doesn’t know what she is talking about.”
Price, who, as an amateur, also won world, European and Commonwealth Games Gold Medals, said: “At the end of the day, he just says it would try and get under the skin. It won’t work. That’s all he really has.
“To get to the Olympic Games and stand at the top of the podium, there is no easy way, there is no easy way. Even qualifying, even there. So, she talks a little garbage there.
“I respect her. She’s an Olympian,” Price from Jonas added. “I respect anyone who enters the ring. But you look at my amateur background, the most pronounced amateur to get out of GB, I will have people who envy me a little.
“I don’t notice that. I focus on what I’m good at what I can achieve. And she can think what she wants.”
The price is convinced that it will increase against Jonas.
“I enjoy being under the lights. Some don’t like it. I love it. Don’t get me wrong, training is hard, but the night is like that, under the lights, when you win and raise your hand, that’s special,” she said.
“I feel like I haven’t really been tested tested more. I feel Tasha is another level from me if I’m honest.
“But I believe there are so many more than me.”
He expects the fight on Friday to be a turning point in his professional progress.
“We’re talking about the night – it will be historically. But opponent Jonas is, the name he is, I believe he makes me bigger in and out of the ring,” Price said.
“So I’m excited about that. I feel like it’s a turning point in my career. But it’s a fight that I know I’ll beat well. I’m just too good.
“I’m talking about my legacy, size, which is a springboard to come with this fight. It’s a massive fight. A massive British fight and starts on March 7th.”
