Mark Williams is ‘fine’ after suffering altitude sickness in Tibet
Three-time world champion Mark Williams needed oxygen at a snooker exhibition in Tibet after being affected by high altitude.
Lhasa, where the Winter Plateau Snooker Challenge is played, is 11,998 feet above sea level.
Williams, 49, posted a photo of himself wearing nasal tubes on social media, but said: “I’m fine, I’m not sick.”
The Welshman has won 26 majors in his career, including the UK Championship twice and the British Open three times, the most recent coming in April 2024 when he beat Ronnie O’Sullivan to win the Tour Championship.
Williams won the unranked Champion of Champions in November and is scheduled to play Ding Junhui in the opening round of The Masters at Alexandra Palace on Monday 13 January.
