Salford Red Devils ‘does not pay players and staff’ because the download process at the Super League Club remains ongoing | Rugby league news
Players and staff at Salford Red Devils went unpaid on Friday, said head coach Paul Rowley.
Salford’s poor start to the season saw that in the first three games they were accepting 156 points in their first game in their initial game against St. Helens due to the limit of the salary restriction while the download process is ongoing.
Before their first match Super League this season, last year’s fourth placed finisers in the league announced that an agreement with a consortium was agreed to buy 100 percent of the club in an agreement that should clean their current debts.
Rowley was convinced that they would be paid on Friday, but that didn’t happen.
If players and staff remain unpaid, the club could once again be under the restriction of financial stability.
Rowley confirmed Sky Sports On Friday: “We are not paid yet. We have guarantees that this is still part of the process where money comes from abroad, there are fraud checks, etc., etc. Players and staff, including staff.
“It is very difficult to convey words, because it is a unique situation. I know that people were in situations where they were not paid or had periods of uncertainty in clubs, but we spent full preseason that was very quiet, we didn’t have a hand or no one actually asked about past players, who obviously became inside.
“But they are human beings, they are all human being, they have mortgage for payment, staff, players, so deterrent, and chat is about other things except playing and I just want to go back to play. I still can’t talk enough about players.”
On Friday, RFL held an emergency meeting of his special measures committee and contacted Salford Red Devils to repeat the position regarding special measures.
The statement read: “RFL was in regular contact with the club to understand their latest position, after the end of the month – he had previously sought and received guarantees regarding the financial sustainability of the club.
“The Committee will meet again on Tuesday to consider the place and whether the special measures that currently relate to the club expand to the return of the club limitations of financial sustainability.”
