At least 46 people were killed and 10 other injured after a Sudanese military plane crashed into a residential neighborhood in Omdurman, a double city of the capital of Khartoum, say the state media.

The Russian -built Antonov aircraft came down after taking off from the Wadi Seid Military Air Base on Tuesday night.

The collision came about the day after the forces of paramilitary fast support (RSF) – which in the war with the army – said that he had knocked down a combat jet in southern Darfur.

The conflict devastated large parts of Sudan – including Khartoum and Omdurman – with thousands of people killed and about 12 million displaced.
