3 workers killed in the demolition of the bridge on the highway in South Korea

At least three workers were killed and seven people were injured when part of the motorway construction site crashed in South Korea on Tuesday morning, officials said.

Emergency crews searched the victims ruins, the National Fire Department of South Korea announced. The fall happened around 9:50 near the city of Cheonan, which is about 50 miles south of Seoul, the capital.

The collapse occurred during the construction of a bridge that connects the parts of the highway, Yonhap, a South Korean news agency reported. Five steel beams supporting the bridge, each about 164 feet long, collapsed one after the other, the news agency said.

The video published by Yonhap shows part of the structure supported in columns that break into pieces and be bored on the ground.

This is a development story.
