Enzo Maresca assured the fans that the end of four was the goal of Chelsea’s goal this season after receiving a wave of criticism for reducing the club’s ambitions.
Chelsea were seen as external candidates for winning the Premier League title just a few months ago, but after a poor run of just two wins in the last nine games in the competition, they have now fallen outside the four best.

Faced with a lot of anger than fans who require higher standards, Mareca told her latest press conference that his sights were firmly set to the best of four.
“We spent almost all of our season at the best of four,” he started. “We only have 13 games now. The goal for us is to end up at the best of four, to finish the best way.
“We will try to do our best to achieve this, knowing that the difficult moment we have now is because of the situation with the injury. We have five or six players – significant players – who are out there. Arsenal has injuries. [Manchester] The city has injuries. We will strive to win the games, even with the amount of the injuries we have.
“I’m not here to survive, I’m here to win the games. I’m here to bring this club to fight for titles. The problem is when you win games, you look humble, and when you don’t win games, you look like you miss the ambition.
Maresca is not the only one Chelsea figure to attract frustration. A group of fans even plans to protest against ownership and sports directors, whose vision for the club has fallen well since expectations.
“I’m ambitious,” I continued Maresca. “The club is ambitious. We have the same manager, the same players, the same owners and the same sports directors from two months ago when we were second in the league. Nothing has changed.
“The only thing that has changed is to deal with many injuries and that has affected the team level slightly.”
