Jair Bolsonaro and dozens of others were accused of allegedly conspiracy to violently reset his choice of election in 2022.
The Brazilian authorities accused the former president of the country, Jair Bolsonaro, and dozens of his supporters to try to set a coup to abolish his loss of election in 2022, the General Prosecutor in the country reported.
General Prosecutor Paulo Gonet said on Tuesday that he had filed a lawsuit in Brazil against Bolsonar and another 33 people, including some former ministers and former mayor.
“The responsibility for the acts harmful to the democratic order falls on the criminal organization led by Jair Messias Bolsonaro, based on the authoritarian project of power,” the allegation document said.
Bolsonaro, a former captain of the army who was president from 2019 to 2022, is unlikely to be arrested before the trial, unless the Supreme Court’s justice Alexandre de Moraes, who oversees the case, considers him the risk of flight.
The indictment indicates for the first time that the Brazilian authorities have accused the right-wing populist leader for the crime and is a new blow to the 69-year-old, who draws his increasingly political return.
Charges come after a two-year investigation of Brazilian federal police- that was concluded in November -In the role of Bolsonaro, who led the Movement for the Election, which culminated in the thousands of his supporters who were in the capital of the country, Brasilia, in January 2023.

In her report, published in November, police accused Bolsonaro, along with 36 people, of planning a “violent overthrow of the Democratic State.”
Bolsonaro administration officials were also charged with the involvement of his liberal party, Valdemar Costa Neta, as well as former Defense Minister Walter Braga Netto, former National Security Advisor Augusto Heleno and former Justice Minister Anderson Torres.
Bolsonaro, who denied the violation of any law, marked the allegations against him with a politically motivated hunting witch who orchestrated his opponents.
