On President Donald J. TrumpOn the first day in power, he issued an executive command that marked the human and drug trafficking cartels as a foreign terrorist organization (FTOS).
This week is expected that the second shoe will fall as a state department under Secretary Marco Rubio Name names, marking six Mexican cartels as ftos.
The official Washington has long swallowed a pleasant fiction that Mexico is a sincere partner in the fight against drugs and trafficking. This myth still exists, despite the decades of irresistible evidence that the Mexican government is at best intentionally negligent, and in the worst case in active agreement with criminal networks that destroy lives on both sides of the border – the cartel that Trump has just called by name.

Trump put a strong end to this lie. Trump’s action reveals an unpleasant truth: Mexico, the first under former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and his party Morena, and now with President Claudi Sheinbaum, is not a peer ally. It is a state of deeply endangered Cartel corruption and control.
We stand with President Trump on an illegal immigration
While Washington Elite takes care of diplomacy and stability, tens of thousands of Americans die of fentanil poisoning each year. This crisis directly encourages cartels that work with impunity in Mexico is material, financial and intelligence from China.
These criminal organizations are no different from terrorist groups of the Middle East such as ISIS or Hezbollah. They are ruthless, well funded and have political power in the ways in which no legitimate government should tolerate-if, of course, this government is not endangered.
Cartels as terrorists: a long -lasting answer
Labeling of a cartel as a ftos is not radical escalation. It is a necessary adaptation of reality. The same tools we use to combat international terrorism – financial sanctions, enlarged intelligence surgery, and even direct military actions – should be performed against Mexican cartels.

The benefits of this mark are clear. Cartps and their drivers would face freezing property, banning travel and severe punishments for all who provide them with material support. More importantly, US law enforcement would increase the authority to remove cartel networks within America. This is a war and should be guided as one.
Critics will warn that this could damage the US-Mexico relations. But let’s be honest: What exactly do we try to preserve? A false partnership in which the Mexican government pretends to worry about stopping drug trafficking while profiting from it at the same time? This is not a diplomacy. It’s a deadly theater.
Mexico “hugs, not bumps”: Green light for cartels
According to the policy launched by Amlo, the so -called Abrasos, no balazos (hugs, not bullets) security policy, Mexico officially surrendered to the cartel. Amlo himself openly admitted that he would rather “avoid conflict” with these groups, offering them olives, while they flood America with deadly drugs and traffic human beings for profit. This is not a strategy; It is a memoir.
American Golden Age begins now
The result is a growing drugstate on our southern border. The reach of cartel extends into Mexican policy, justice, and even the implementation of the law at a federal and state level. Mexican journalists and whistleblowers dare to expose these relationships are often silenced – permanently.
Washington’s cowardice has enabled this crisis
For decades, the official Washington has chosen the path of the smallest resistance when it comes to Mexico. Politicians and bureaucrats prefer to maintain the illusion of partnership, no matter how many Americans die Fentanil encouraged by cartel Or how much migrant brutalizes traders of people. Their concern for “stability” in Mexico is only euphemism to calm down.
But stability for whom? Certainly not for American families who bury their children after even more poisoning with fentanil. Certainly not for migrations that have been enslaved to the traders with the tacit approval of Mexican authorities. Stability only serves the corrupt political class in Mexico and the heads of cartel that go bankrupt.

It’s time to take off your gloves
Leave that President Trump. The appointment of Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations is the first honest step that Washington has taken about this issue in decades. Sends an unmistakable message:
The days of pretending that Mexico is equal to the partner is over. We will no longer allow corrupt politicians and cartel leaders to profit from killing Americans, while capturing hundreds of thousands in the form of modern slavery without consequences.
If the Mexican political elite wants to continue playing with cartels nicely, it is their choice. But America is right – and responsibility – to defend itself against the deadly consequences of that choice. This is no longer just the issue of the border security; It is a vital imperative of national security.

Washington wetlands will resist the unpleasant truths that this appointment will reveal, but that is not our problem. Their fantasy about Mexico in a responsible partner in regional security is a cruel lie.
It’s time to face reality: the Mexican government is not just that it does not fight the cartel; It is actively helping them – so much is that it is difficult to determine where one ends and the other starts.
