Kobbie Mainoo is ‘lost’, according to former midfielder of England and Manchester United Scholes

Paul Scholes says Kobbie Mainoo looked lost after being arranged in several different positions by Manchester United chief Ruben Amorim.

Mainoo scored huge steps last season, breaking down to become united regularly and then played for England in Euro 2024.

But his progress has paused in recent months, and Scholes believes it is a lack of fixed position.

Mainoo has played in the defense and attacking environment of the role in recent weeks, and even as a false nine in the defeat of Crystal Palace.

And Scholes believes that he is not working for him.

Former United and England midfielder told the discussion of fans overlap: “I think Mainoo was lost. I talked about Declan Rice lost before – I think Mainoo was lost too. They don’t know what to do with him.

“I don’t think he knows where to play on the football field, because he played in one of the positions number 10, he played in two in the middle of the field, which I see probably does not suit him because I don’t think he’s the biggest athlete.

“He is a great football player. I think number 10 replies, [but] False nine? Never in a million years. “
