Trump signs an executive command that ends “forced use of paper straws”

President Donald Trump On Monday, he signed an executive command by completing “the procurement and forced use of paper straws”.
The command directs the federal government to stop buying paper straws and ensures that they are no longer offered in federal buildings, the fact of the White House states in the list of the White House.
It also requires the development of “national strategy” to end the use of paper straws within 45 days and “mitigate forced use of paper straws throughout the country”.

The White House said that paper straws are more expensive than plastic straws and use chemicals that can have a risk of human health.
“The irrational campaign against plastic straws has forced Americans to use non -functional paper straws,” the fact reads, adding: “This ends under President Trump.”
The command comes after Trump vowed last week to end the prohibition and restrictions on plastic straws.

“Next week, I sign the executive command, ending the funny biden pressure for paper straws, which are not functioning,” Trump said on Friday to the Social Truth. “Back to plastic!”
Several Democratic states, Including California, Colorado, New York, Maine, Oregon, Vermont, Rhode Island and Washington, they have prohibitions or limitations of plastic straws for one -time use.
Some of these countries currently have laws that limit the use of plastic straws in full service restaurants unless the buyer requests.

States led by Democrats have also adopted the use of paper straws as an alternative to the environment, which Trump has criticized for years. In a 2019 social networking post, he said “liberal paper straws did not work.”
This comes after former President Joe Biden’s administration He announced plans in July to abolish plastic for disposable use in the Federal Government.
