As soon as Tyson Fury announced retirement, questions in sports and beyond are asked.
Did he mean that? Would you be retired? Did he come back?
Finally, he gets out of a pension before.
The former heavyweight world champion lost two of the highest caliber competitions against Oleksandar Usyk last year, but surprised boxing last month when he was proclaimed he would get away from the sport.
He retains his interest in his craft, sitting with Frank Warren to watch Derek Chisora’s fight with Otto Wallin last weekend.
Warren has promoted Fury since the extraordinary return after more than two years in 2018.
“He returned from a terrible place when he fell off a cliff, with noisy, drugs, problems he had, suicidal thoughts. Just to get over it – he defined his life for him,” Warren said Sky Sports News.
“Boxing gave him that ride, a focus to bring his life back on the trail. He did it and should enjoy the prey of his work, the most strict of all sports.”
He added, “If he returns, he will come back. But for me I just want to see him to be happy. He deserves it.”
Warren did not press Fury to the question when he saw him on Saturday.
“I asked him,” What is it like to wear old slippers around the house? “And he’s happy. Being happy,” Warren said.
“Look at what he did in the game. He went to the yards of other guys, won world titles, spectacular struggles. Look at the fight he had, the trilogy of the fight he had with whom he had [Deontay] Wilder, great struggles, entering in [Wladimir] Klitschk’s yard, doing a job there, some phenomenal, phenomenal struggles. Great fights with Usyk, “Warren continued.
“Really, really quality fights. The two best difficulties in the 21st century. He did everything you can ask him.”
