The crews are still working on the recovery of the body of 10 people killed in a plane crash in Alaska, officials said.
Jennifer Homendy, President of the National Transport Safety Committee, said the collision investigation was in his “early stages” and that it was too early to say what caused him.
The Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, operated by the Bering Air regional operator, traveled from unalaet to Nemo on Thursday, when he lost his radar contact.
Nine passengers and pilot were on the plane when he went down to Norton Sound about 34 miles (55 km) southeast of Nad, a city of about 3,500 on the western coast of Alaska.
Among the dead were Rhone Baumgartner and Kameron Hartvigson, two employees of the tribal health consortium for the homeland of Alaska.
They traveled to Unalaet to perform work on maintenance at the water factory, an non -profit organization announced on Friday.
Mrs. Homendy said there were nine investigators at the scene and was supported by Washington experts.
“The efforts on recovery are still ongoing, with the priority of recovery of the victim,” she said during a press conference in Anchorage, the largest city of Alaska.
“I would like to use a moment and spend our deepest condolences to people who lost their loved ones in this tragedy,” she said.
Mrs. Homendy said that recovery workers were dealing with worse weather conditions and that the wreck landed on an icy color that moves at a speed of five miles a day.
In a statement, Bering Air, which manages commercial and charter flights, expressed condolences and said he would cooperate with the collision investigation.
Alaska state soldiers said that on Thursday he was informed of the “delay” aircraft at 16:00 local time (01:00 GMT).
The fire department of the Nome Volunteer said the pilot told the air traffic controllers that “he intended to enter the retention form while waiting for the piston to be cleaned.”
The US Coast Guard later said that the plane experienced a quick loss of altitude and speed before the contact was lost.
The recordings showed low visibility in the area at the time of the collision.
Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski shared a condolences after the incident.
“Alaska is a big small town. When the tragedy hits, we are never far from the Alaskans directly influenced,” she wrote on the net.
The Governor of Alaska, Mike Dunleavy, said he was “broken” by the disappearance of the flight.
“Our prayers are with passengers, pilot and their loved ones in this difficult time,” he said.
Ukleet and noma are about 150 miles away from each other through Norton Sound, the entrance of the Berin’s Sea on the west coast of Alaska.
