Jimenez is charged with first degree murderand a state order published for his arrest on May 15, 2012. The federal order was published two days later after Jimenez was charged for an illegal flight to avoid criminal persecution.

FBI Chicago, San Antonio FBI, FBI Legat Mexico City and US District Court in the North District of Illinois cooperated in the investigation to find Jimenez. Agents with Fiscalia General de la República, in cooperation with the international organization of criminal police, arrested him.
