Gambhir’s comments come in light of recent criticism regarding the performance of senior players, particularly the captain Rohit Sharma and a veteran batsman Virat Kohli. He also mentioned that his conversations with the senior batsmen revolved exclusively around strategies to win Test matches.
“Each individual knows what areas to work on. We only had one conversation with them (and that was) how to win Test matches”, added Gambhir.
The coach reiterated that individual performances are key to securing a place in the playing 11, stating:Indian cricket will be in safe hands as long as honest people remain in the dressing room. The only thing that keeps you in the locker room is performance,“.
