Neymar: Brazil forward leaves al-Hilal

Neymar had a contract with the Saudi Arabian Club of Al-Hilal abolished by mutual consent.

The 32-year-old Brazilian joined the club in August 2023, but played only seven matches for the Saudi club and scored one goal. He was injured for a long time with a knee injury.

The deal was to expire after the participation of Al-Hilal at this year’s FIFA Club World Cup, which will be played in June and July in the United States.

The club announced in a statement published on its channels of social media that “it expresses gratitude and respect for Neymar for what he has given to Al-Hilal during his career.”

Neymar returned from an injury in October and the latest appearance at the Saudi club was in November. In various interviews, the Brazilian said there would be doubts whether coach Jorge Jesus would count on him by the end of the season.

Brazilian media reported that Neymar and his father were interested in returning to his boyhood club Santos, where he achieved national fame and his first Brazil cap before joining Barcelona in 2013.

Shortly after moving to Saudi, he surpassed Pele to become a Brazilian leading goalkeeper with 78 goals, but did not play for his country from his initial knee injury in 2023.
