Failed inspector General says Trump release threat to democracy

Ware said that “alarming” that Trump’s administration was released by what he described as “variable priorities” – not accepting that Ig are not part of any administration and just ensure that there is no fraud, waste and abuse in the way they are Taxpayers’ funds spend.

In 2022, the Congress adopted reforms that strengthened the IGS protection and made it difficult to replace them with political appointed people, demanding the president to explain their removal.

Ware suggested that Trump failed to provide a comprehensive reason for mass release and may have potentially violated the protection provided by the reforms.

“We look at what is a threat to democracy, a threat to independent control and a threat of transparency in the Government. It is without a doubt. The statute is not just a technical ability, but a key protection of Ig independence is what it is,” Ware said.

He also claimed that the US government also cannot have an independent control mechanism if the new administration adheres to only the IG law in a “partial way”.
