Celtic could sign their “young Sadio Mane” in a £10m star

Celtic finally managed to complete their first signing of the January transfer window with the arrival of Jota on a permanent deal from Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Hoops have signed a contract with the Portuguese striker for a reported fee of £8m18 months after moving to Al-Ittihad from Parkhead, while Kyogo moved to the other side in a contract worth £10 million.

But Jota may not be the only player to arrive this month, as the club are also reportedly interested in Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden, who valued at £10 million from the Danish side.

As well as bringing in players like the Portuguese winger and Danish striker, Celtic could also look at starlets who could come with an eye to the future, such as Bazoumane Toure.

Celtic’s interest in Bazoumana Toure

Earlier this month, The Scottish Sun reported to Swedish media claiming that the Hoops are interested in winger Hammarby and have sent scouts to watch the young star in action this season.

It has been claimed that the Swedish side have put a £10million price tag on the 18-year-old jewel’s head and it remains to be seen whether or not they will Scottish Premiership the giants are willing to pay that much money for him.

Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have also said they are delighted with the teenage sensation, suggesting the Bhoys could face stiff competition for the winger’s signature before the end of the January transfer window.

Celtic, however, should be looking to win the race for his services, be it this month or the summer, as Toure could come in as a player with huge potential for Brendan Rodgers.

Why Celtic should sign Bazoumana Toure

Earlier this month, journalist Bence Bocsak described the teenager as “exciting” talent who reminds him of a “young Sadio Mane”, which is incredibly high praise given everything the Senegalese international has achieved in his England career.

The left wing scored 120 goals in 269 matches for Liverpool in all competitions and won the Premier League and the Champions League during his time at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.

The former Southampton forward has proven to be a reliable scorer over a number of years in the English league as a dynamic, quick forward who predominantly plays on the left flank.

Like Mane, Toure predominantly plays on the left wing for Hammarby and uses his speed and technical quality to great effect in the upper half of the pitch, although the big difference between the two is that the 18-year-old ace is left-footed.

As you can see in the table above, the Ivorian wizard caught the eye in his first season of senior football for Hammarby in the 2024 Allsvenskan.

A return of 15 goals and ‘big chances’ created in 20 league starts at the age of 18 is an exceptional return. For context of how impressive that is for his age, neither teenager has played more than one minute Premiership action for Celtic this season.

Toure is an exciting young talent with great potential as a goalscorer and goalscorer on the left flank and so Rodgers could bring him in as his ‘young Sadio Mane’, with time ahead of him to develop into a first-team star for the Hoops in the future.

Celtic have already hit the jackpot by signing the midfield star last summer.

At the age of 18, he had time to learn from Jota, Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda while progressing on the pitch under Rodgers’ tutelage.
