Journalists who covered up Biden’s mental decline should be held accountable: NY Post editorial board
Journalists who helped the White House cover up President Biden’s mental decline should be held accountable for misleading the public, New York Post he demanded in a scathing new editorial.
“Democrat-friendly journalists have seen the same evidence that the rest of us have that Biden is compromised, and instead of being skeptical, they’re asking questions and putting the White House at their feet — doing their thing jobs — have joined the crusade to light up America,” the Post editorial wrote Wednesday.
As Biden prepares to leave office, the media is facing renewed scrutiny over how it covered one of the biggest stories of the year — concerns that Biden unfit for service.
During the 2024 presidential race, many media pundits and commentators came to Biden’s defense when there was speculation about his mental acuity, including after special counsel Robert Hur’s report that well-intentioned but forgetfulviral videos of him looking confused and a Wall Street Journal report on his erratic behavior behind the scenes.
Despite polls showing a majority of Americans believe Biden is too old for a second term, many reporters treated questions about Biden’s health as a right-wing conspiracy.
“The whole idea that Biden was anything but healthy — virile, even — was treated as a right-wing talking point about the hat,” wrote Post.
These concerns reached a tipping point after Biden’s failed showing in June, after which he was pressured to drop out of the race.
“And at every turn, spineless tank reporters dutifully did Team Biden’s propaganda dirty work — until the debate, when Biden’s senility became too unmistakable to continue denying,” the Post editorial continued.
“Now they’re acting coy, but it’s far too late to save their damaged credibility,” the Post wrote, referring to a recent Semaphore report in which several liberal journalists admitted that their defense of Biden was their worst effort in 2024.

“I’m leaving 2024 with a lot of contempt for the president and the people around him — who were essentially involved in elder abuse — and also with a fair amount of shame that I didn’t see through their fraud earlier,” journalist Josh Barro told Semafor.
“Like many others, I was completely, completely, completely, embarrassingly wrong about Biden’s lack of mental capacity,” former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan also admitted.
The revelations come at a time when there is trust in the media at an all-time low according to a Gallup poll.
AVERAGE: MEDIA, TOP DEMOCRATS AND LEADERS PASSIONATELY DEFEND BIDEN’S FITNESS TO SERVE
Biden’s former defenders in the media should not be let off the hook, the Post editorial board insisted.
“No one who perpetuated, covered up or ignored this grotesque scandal should be played down,” the editorial continues.
Criticism follows a recent Wall Street Journal report, citing interviews with current and former White House staff, who claimed that Biden’s stamina problems were evident in his first few months in office.
The The White House fired back content of the magazine’s report in a statement to Fox News Digital, saying that Biden’s political achievements provide “indisputable evidence” of his qualifications and leadership.
