Arsenal secured a big three points from home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, while Wolves 1-0 beat Wolves in Molineux.
Since Liverpool took over the city side last weekend, which was 6-0 last weekend, it seemed as if the main task of Arsenal on Saturday would match the result of the league leader.
The rifles, however, did not have their way to Molineux, and the wolves wanted to undo their recent fall in shape. The hosts fiercely competed in the introductory exchanges and created the first big opening, but Pablo Sarabia flawed his volley from the excellent cross Nelson Semedo.
Arsenal was the most dangerous when Wolves had the ball, and Vitor Pereira intended to convert possession in the accumulation phase. Leandro Trossard twice amazed by Kai Havertz with precise deliveries, but Germany somehow failed to find the back of the net from both main efforts.
The first half was deprived of quality, and the competition turned just before the break when Michael Oliver sent Myles Lewis-Skelly because of what was considered cynical and dangerous challenge to Matt Doherty.
Arsenal did not turn away despite their unfavorable position and had the brightest magic of the competition at the beginning of the second half. Gabriel, Declan Rice and Havertz (again) approached the breakthrough of the downtime before Matheus Cunha pierced the opportunity at the other end.
The unfortunate challenge of Joao Gomes on Jurrien Timber, after being reserved in the first half, led to his rejection, and Arsenal did not lose time in exploitation because replacement Riccardo Calafiori scored a winning goal with a fine ending within the area.
Visitors then had no problem when they saw the game, although Rayan Ait-Nouri could have done better when he found himself behind Arsenal’s defense, but shot straight at David Ray.
