“If we can get the right player, that’s what we’re actively looking for. They are [the players] they’ve all been there, we’ve had very short numbers for many weeks, they recognize the situation. Sometimes I consult with players about signatures, especially if they know them. It’s far from computers and data, they can feel it, they know about it.”
While talks have yet to progress on their goals, as things stand, a reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has reassured fans – saying it is “very likely” that Arteta’s side will complete the signing of a new centre-forward before the January deadline.
“It’s very likely,” he said Romano on Arsenal’s pursuit of a striker for GiveMeSport.
“That is Mikel Arteta’s expectation, so I expect the club to support him and find a solution in the market even if the big clubs are not available.”
Another heavily linked striker comes in the form of the Wolves star Matheus Cunhawho is yet to sign a new contract with Wolves despite financial terms apparently being agreed. The point of contention was reportedly Cunha’s desire to include a relegation clause, with the Brazilian’s negotiations over a new contract stalling and leaving the transfer opportunity to interested parties.
Reliable reporter Ben Jacobs writes that he won’t be cheap though, and Vitor Pereira’s team could ask for how much 80 million pounds.
Arsenal reveal Matheus Cunha wants to join them in January
As for the better news in their pursuit of Cunha, according to GiveMeSport , Arteta has received a “significant boost” in the race for his services.
The outlet claims Arsenal have revealed that Cunha wants to join them this monthwith the Gunners in pole position ahead of counterparts Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, on that note, Wolves remain determined to land the former Atlético Madrid star who has scored 10 goals and assisted four in all competitions so far this term – in five different positions in the attacking third.
Arsenal may need a big-money bid to win it”phenomenal” Cunha away from Molineux, but that will always be the case with any world-class striker midway through the campaign.
