Cruz fights Omar Salcido (20-1, 14 KOs) tonight in a 10-round WBC lightweight title eliminator on Diego Pacheco vs. Steven Nelson at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Chelsea Ballroom, Las Vegas.
In the interview with Keyshawn (12-0, 8 KO) it seemed obvious He wants Cruz to lose; Maybe that pressures him to deal with the fans and the media now to fight him.
They want him to fight Cruz so he can try to avenge at least one of his four losses. However, Keyshawn has repeatedly dismissed the fight, saying it’s beneath him as he’s only had four fights since turning pro.
Cruz’s “fragility”
“I feel like he’s going to lose before he gets to this level. I honestly feel like he’s going to lose,” Keyshawn Davis said. Boxing millcity On Andy Cruz, saying he’s going to beat himself before he gets to where he is.
“I just feel like he’s going to lose before he gets to me, period. They better just make him mandatory fast before the *** happens to him.
Davis still sounds bitter about his four amateur losses to Andy Cruz, and now he’s hoping someone beats him so he doesn’t have to worry about launching his career like he did in the amateurs.
“He’s fragile. He doesn’t have a respectable pop,” Keyshawn said of Cruz. “If you can’t knock someone off you, what are you going down for? Are you going to keep dancing and making out for the whole 12 rounds? A three-way fight and a twelve-round fight is a big difference.”
Cruz knocked out Antonio Moran in his last fight on August 3rd and looked strong in that fight. What he showed in that fight was more than enough power for anyone in the division, including Keyshawn. He landed a lot of punches on Moran, who broke him, and in the seventh he injured himself with a jab.
“Ten ounces and eight ounces is a big difference. He brought my name up and called me son. That f*** is funny to me. I know what’s going on with his team. This needs help. He needs a better team. I just don’t think he has respectable power.
“Average Pro”
“You’re crazy as hell if you think that’s going to work against a fighter like me. I feel like he was a phenomenal amateur, but he’s going to be an average pro. He just got hurt by his last opponent [Antonio Moran]. Wasn’t that the opponent that Devin Haney knocked out [six years ago on May 25, 2019, in the seventh round? The same round that Cruz KO’d Moran in].
“If it hurts you in its development stage, what do you think I’ll do to you?” Davis said. Have you ever seen me hurt or fall? “
Nahir Albright pinned Keyshawn in their fight on October 14, 2023. It was a development fight, and Davis was injured. After the fight, he started talking about the stupidity of buying a house because his win was overturned due to a positive test for a banned substance.
“All he can do is keep calling my name to keep it relevant,” Keyshawn said of Cruz. “I watched the debut of Andy Cruz [against Juan Carlos Burgos on July 15, 2023]. After that, I never watched a full Andy Cruz fight, except for his debut.
“Keep your name from mine. Keep the commenters mentioning my name. I hope you can reach me one day,” Davis said with A fake smile on his face. “I’ll knock him. My mission is to become world champion and unify.
“If he doesn’t want to fight me, we’re going to try to get the biggest name. I know I’m going to knock Andy Cruz out. That’s what I said in the amateurs when I lost to this guy [four times]. “When I turn around, I’m knocking this dude.” I just don’t have the perfect amateur style that he does. Simply no, but pro.
“Not so exciting”
“That’s how he fights. That’s Andy Cruz,” Keyshawn said when he said Cruz moved around a lot in his amateur fights. “It’s natural to counter-punch. It doesn’t come forward and go at you with punches.
“That’s why he’s not so exciting because he literally wants to sit back and let other people hit him so he can do all that tricky stuff and counter and hit you. That actually works great in the amateurs. Then he starts dating some bulls***, but he’s not really fighter.
“He really wants to sit back, play with his jab and let somebody miss him and hit him. That’s a real fight. I just don’t see him doing that with me for 12 rounds. I’ll knock your **.
“Lomachenko has one more fight in him. Top Rank aside. Ok, I’ll try to go the Lomachenko route. If he doesn’t want to fight me. Ok, I’ll try to go the light skin [Gervonta Davis] Time.
