Man Utd ‘open’ to offloading £200k-p/w ace in January
Manchester United “would be willing” to let go of the £200k-p/w player in the January transfer window, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Man Utd at the bottom
There have been a few low points for Man United since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, but it’s hard to recall a situation this dire, with Reuben Amorim going so far as to admit that it’s uncomfortable to be a club manager at the moment.
It looks like major changes will be needed for United to compete again, so it may be a relief for the Amors that the January transfer window is now upon us. However, the manager insisted that January signings will not be an option unless there are some departures, meaning the Red Devils are tasked with finding new clubs for a number of underperforming players.
One such player is Marcus Rashford, and speculation surrounding the forward’s future continues to mount since he admitted he thinks he needs to leave his boyhood club. Another striker who has been under par for some time is Antoniusand Romano has now dropped the update indicating that United are willing to cut their losses on the Brazilian this winter.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the transfer expert said: “For Antony, his agent has mentioned for the first time that Antony could leave Man United for the first time, based on what Man United want to do.
“My information is that if a good offer comes in January, Man United will be open to finding a solution for Antony as well, so there could be movement around Manchester United. I think only a few players are certain in the sense that they are going to be untouchable. Many others may be available on the market.”

Antony must go
The Brazilian international has been flattering to cheat since arriving at Old Trafford, and failed to interfere with Amorim’s plans, and has only just begun Premier League game this season. The 200,000 GBP per day the winger is one of the earners at Old Trafford, which could be too much when it comes to finding a new club, but Amorim needs to get him off the books and start fresh.
Former United boss Erik ten Hag described Antony as a “fighter”, but he picked up only two goals in the Premier League last season, and this term he did not manage to score.
As such, it is the right decision to sanction the move this winter. It is also interesting that Romano states that very few players are safe at Old Trafford, which is to be expected given the level of performance.
Only a few players can hold their heads high this season, such as Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes, who are rated as the best performing players in the squad, and clearly a major operation is needed if United are to compete at the top again.
