Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is suing a grand jury witness for $50 million

Sean “Diddy” Combs filed a defamation lawsuit Wednesday in New York federal court against Nexstar Media Inc., (NewsNation), Courtney Burgess and attorney Ariel Mitchell.

Diddy accused the defendants of “inciting a media frenzy, fabricating outlandish claims and fueling baseless speculation” about him for months over the alleged sex tapes involving the disgraced music mogul and other celebrities, the lawsuit said. He is seeking $50 million in damages.

“All pretense of objectivity has been abandoned in this wretched spectacle, while a global audience feasts on an all-you-can-eat buffet of wild lies and conspiracy theories,” the documents said. “The defendants are among the worst perpetrators in this abusive scenario. They eagerly seize every opportunity to broadcast blatant falsehoods, pretending they have proof that Mr. Combs engaged in heinous acts, knowing that no such proof exists.”

“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is taking a stand against the malicious falsehoods invented and spread by individuals seeking to profit at his expense,” Diddy’s attorney, Erica Wolff, said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“These defendants deliberately fabricated and propagated outrageous lies with reckless disregard for the truth. Their falsehoods poisoned public perception and contaminated the jury. This appeal should serve as a warning that such deliberate falsehoods, which undermine Mr. Combs’ right to a fair trial, will no longer be tolerated.” .”

Diddy’s legal team claimed that Burgess “falsely claimed to have videos of Mr. Combs involved in the sexual abuse of celebrities and minors.”

They alleged that Burgess, who was subpoenaed by federal prosecutors to testify before a grand jury, “repeated this false claim numerous times to anyone who would listen, including reporters from major news outlets (including NewsNation, which recklessly repeated and amplified his lies) as if are true),” the lawsuit states.

Mitchell, Burgess’ attorney, allegedly “knew her client’s allegations were false or, at the very least, was grossly reckless in disregarding their falsity,” the documents said.

“Since no such tapes exist, and since Mitchell never saw any video of Mr. Combs sexually abusing anyone, adult or minor, Mitchell’s many false claims that Burgess possessed such videos were either knowingly patent falsehoods or recklessly false statements made as a direct result of Mitchell’s inexcusable failure to investigate his client’s outrageous lies.”

Representatives for Burgess did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
