Adams says NYC is coordinating with ICE as mass deportations of migrants threaten

The mayor of New York Eric Adams on Tuesday he said his administration was coordinating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on deporting illegal criminal immigrants.

Adams, a Democrat, said federal agencies will pursue migrants who commit violent crimes in the Big Apple despite the city’s sanctuary laws.

“There’s a lot of room, we already have task forces with federal partners,” Adams said when asked if his administration could work on ICE while complying with the sanctuary city law, which limits cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

“The law is clear, the law is clear of crime. I made that clear,” Adams said. “Even before the election, I made that clear with the emphasis that we need to deal with the people who commit these violent crimes.”

New York has seen an unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants under the Biden administration, with more than 225,000 migrants arriving since 2022. This increase also coincides with a spike in migrant-related crime, while the bloodthirsty Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang has also gained a foothold in the city.

Adams attended the inauguration on Monday where President Trump vowed to end illegal immigration and vowed to deport “millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places they came from.”

The mayor said the NYPD also won’t be prevented from working with ICE in its deportation efforts.

“There’s no limit to the NYPD coordinating with the various crime task forces,” Adams said.

“There are no restrictions. Nothing has changed there. We will continue to work with all of our federal partners when it comes to illegal behavior,” he continued. “I have been very clear for almost a year and a half, those who commit violent crimes in our city have violated their right to be in our city and our country and we will continue to work with those who engage in crime.”

TRUMP TO SEND TROOPS TO BORDER, END BIDEN’S PAROLE POLICY IN RUSH OF EXECUTIVE ORDERS ON DAY ONE

Border “czar” Tom Homan told “America Reports” on Tuesday that ICE has begun the process of deporting some migrants.

“ICE teams are out as of today. We’ve instructed them to prioritize the public safety threats we’re looking for. So we’ve been working on a target list,” Homan said.

On Monday, Trump declared a state of emergency at the national border and signed a series of executive orders aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration, including ending the CBP One app that was created in 2020 to schedule meetings at US points of entry

Trump also ordered government agencies to re-establish Protocols for the Protection of Migrants (MPP)known as the Remain-in-Mexico rule. That policy, which was rescinded by the Biden administration during Trump’s first term, required migrants to remain in Mexico during their asylum hearings.

Another order ordered the deployment of American troops to border under the US Northern Command to prioritize US border and territorial integrity in strategic planning.

President Trump also designated international cartels and organizations, including MS-13 and the bloodthirsty Tren de Aragua, as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs). The FTO designation enables targeted actions against members, including financial penalties.

He also signed an executive order ending birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants.
