Six Palestinians killed as Israel launches operation in Jenin

At least six Palestinians were killed and 35 injured after Israeli security forces launched a major operation in Jenin in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli army, police and Shin Bet security service had launched a “large and significant” operation to “eradicate terrorism” in Jenin.

Palestinian media reported that Israeli soldiers entered Jenin and its refugee camp on Tuesday morning after several drone strikes.

It came after a weeks-long operation by Palestinian security forces in the camp targeting armed groups they see as a challenge to their rule.
