Trump plans record executive actions on his first day in office

Investing.com– President-elect Donald Trump is expected to take more than 200 executive actions on his first day in office, Fox News Digital reported Sunday, citing a senior administration official.

The sweeping measures will address a wide range of policy areas, including border security, energy production, the federal bureaucracy and reducing the cost of living for Americans, the report said.

Trump will sign multiple omnibus executive orders that will contain dozens of actions. These include declaring a national border emergency, ordering the military and the Department of Homeland Security to secure the southern border and targeting criminal cartels operating inside the US by designating them as foreign terrorist organizations, according to the Fox report.

He plans to reinstate policies such as “Stay in Mexico” and “Catch and Release” as he launches new phases of the border wall, it added.

On energy policy, the president-elect will declare a national energy emergency, canceling offshore wind leases and lifting Biden-era restrictions on oil, gas and pipeline projects. The administration aims to fully exploit Alaska’s energy resources and withdraw the U.S. from agreements such as the Paris climate accord, the report said.

The sweeping reforms will include a federal hiring freeze, merit-based hiring and the elimination of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs across the government. Trump also intends to suspend security clearances for officials linked to controversial actions before the 2020 election, according to the report.

Trump’s sweeping actions will mark an unprecedented start to a US presidency, reaffirming his campaign promise to restore American greatness, the Fox report said.
