At a press conference on Sunday, outgoing President Joe Biden hailed the cease-fire between Israel and Hamas that took effect earlier in the day. “Today, the guns in Gaza fell silent,” Biden said, adding that “hundreds of trucks are entering Gaza as I speak, carrying aid for civilians who have suffered enormously in the war.”
