There is ongoing contact with Chelsea and with super-agent Pini Zahavi regarding the potential transfer of the 27-year-old to Bavaria, but the chances of Mathys Tel coming to Stamford Bridge via another route are apparently ruled out for now.
With the possibility of Tel joining Enzo Marescasquad for Nkunku is now unlikely, Chelsea have turned their attention to alternative wide targets, one of whom is believed to be the Man United winger Alejandro Garnacho.
The 20-year-old has so far scored eight goals and five assists in all competitions, with Napoli are also eyeing Garnacho as a potential replacement for Khvich Kvaratskhelia.
United have so far rejected Napoli’s approaches to the South American, and BBC reports that Antonio Conte’s side failed to make a £40m bid for Garnach earlier this week.
Napoli’s failure to reach a deal for him could present Chelsea with an opportunity to pounce, and The Athletic’s Ornstein claims they are trying to do just that.
